What Does a Giant Panda Do in Its Daily Life?
As a national treasure, what does a giant panda do every day? Perhaps gathering with friends, enjoying hotpot, and singing songs?
Or maybe indulging in a Northeast-style bath and spa? The daily life of these panda babies is so enviable that I’m practically green with jealousy!
So, when someone in our editorial office brought back Kalos Blocks’ Panda Bamboo Dwelling series, I immediately shouted, “Nobody touch it! I’m building this!”
Unboxing – Absolutely Delightful!
The Panda Bamboo Dwelling series consists of five different sets. The packaging features a soothing light blue as the main color, with images of the completed builds printed on the front and back, along with detailed play features. The vibrant colors add to the playful and cozy atmosphere.
Inside the box, the pieces are neatly packed in transparent bags, while the larger base plates, uniquely shaped pieces, light-up elements, and panda figurines are separately stored. Everything is clearly organized, and the weight feels substantial—suggesting a sturdy build.
Each set contains over 500 pieces, indicating a moderate level of difficulty. However, upon closer inspection, there are many tiny decorative elements that require careful assembly, so you’ll still need to focus while building.
Every set includes a small sticker sheet—not too many stickers, which was a relief! No matter how many pieces there are, as long as there aren’t too many stickers, I feel confident in my skills!
The instruction manuals are all under 100 pages. Since the sets include many colors and intricate details, the printing is carefully done to accurately match the actual brick colors, making the assembly process even easier.

The front pages of the manual clearly indicate the required parts for each step, while the back includes a comprehensive parts list. After reviewing everything, I had just one thought—this is going to be a relaxing build!

Building – A Perfectly Enjoyable Experience!
I don’t know if it’s my love for pandas or the high-quality design of these sets, but the entire building process was truly enjoyable. Despite the small decorative pieces, the overall size of the bricks is quite large, and I didn’t experience the frustrating issue of knocking over one part while attaching another.
Each of the five sets follows the same assembly sequence:
1. Baseplate
2. Lower structure
3. Interior details
4. Roof closure
5. External decorations & rooftop features
Since all the sets feature a round “bamboo tube” design, they might seem unstable at first glance. However, during assembly, it becomes clear how much thought went into the structural integrity. The base incorporates interlocking bricks and plates to ensure stability.
Another standout feature is Kalos Blocks’ unique floral-shaped studs, which left a lasting impression on me.
The entire building process felt smooth and effortless. By following the step-by-step instructions, progress was steady, and on average, each set took about four hours to complete. If you don’t have that much free time, you can build it step by step, finishing in about two days.
Although the recommended age is 8 and up, I believe even younger children (around five or six) could enjoy building with parental guidance. Just be cautious—some of the small, colorful pieces might look tempting to toddlers, so make sure they don’t put them in their mouths!
My favorite part? The three adorable panda figurines in each set. These fully molded pandas don’t require assembly, and their heads can rotate or be swapped. Their round, chubby designs and soft-touch texture made them so irresistibly cute that I kept getting distracted playing with them!
Finished Build – Absolutely Worth It!
After assembling all five sets, I still wanted more! With all the charming decorations and adorable pandas, the Panda Bamboo Dwelling series truly captures the essence of Sichuan culture. Let’s take a stroll through this miniature bamboo forest retreat and experience a peaceful Shangri-La of our own!
Stop 1: Tea House – A Tranquil Chess & Tea Experience
A slow-paced life begins with a cup of tea. Set 54034, Tea House, is the perfect place to unwind! Atop the bamboo-roofed structure, a giant teapot appears to pour a continuous stream of crystal-clear water, exuding an aura of pure relaxation.
Inside, you’ll find an assortment of premium teas and a full tea set. Delicate flower vases and traditional ink paintings add a refined touch, while the bamboo outside the house seems to release a gentle fragrance into the air.
Draw fresh water from the old stone well, brew a pot of tea, and enjoy a quiet game of Go with a panda companion—this level of tranquility is simply irresistible!
Stop 2: Hotpot Restaurant – A Fiery Feast
After tea, it’s time to eat! And what else would pandas serve? Hotpot, of course! But beware—if you can’t handle spicy food, say so early! The fiery red broth spilling from the giant hotpot on the roof of Set 54033, Hotpot Restaurant, looks seriously spicy!
Inside, the bubbling hotpot is ready, surrounded by fresh ingredients waiting to be cooked. The pandas have even brought out a vintage jar of aged wine. The scent of delicious food seems to fill the air!
Check out the ingredients: cabbage, mushrooms, corn, lotus root, meat slices, fresh bamboo shoots… Now the only question is—should we dip them in sesame sauce or chili oil?
Stop 3: Mahjong Parlor – A Friendly Game Night
After a hearty meal, what’s next? According to the pandas, a game of mahjong is a must! Set 54035, Mahjong Parlor, is beautifully decorated with classic Chinese lanterns and intricate wooden structures.
Three pandas are already seated, eagerly waiting: “Hurry up! We need a fourth player!”
Worried about gambling? No need! The “chips” in this game are—you guessed it—fresh bamboo shoots!
Stop 4: Flower Shop – An Afternoon Delight
After a few intense rounds of mahjong, the pandas have won all the bamboo chips. But no worries—let’s visit Set 54032, Flower Shop!
Before even stepping inside, the sweet fragrance of flowers fills the air. The shop is stocked with fresh floral pastries, lovingly crafted by the panda baker. Who could resist?
Outside, a quaint table is set with pastries and tea. The delightful aroma not only cleanses the palate from the hotpot but also washes away the lingering scent of spice!
Stop 5: Spa Retreat – Ultimate Relaxation
After a full day of fun, the pandas insist we’re still missing out! Enter Set 54036, Spa Retreat, where hot spring steam drifts gently into the air.
Inside, everything is prepared—towels, bath products, and a steaming pool of mineral-rich water. The outdoor bath, surrounded by blooming peach blossoms, is the ultimate place for relaxation.
Soaking in the warm water, closing your eyes—suddenly, all worries seem to melt away.
As night falls, the soft glow of lanterns illuminates the village, while pandas await their next guests. Their cozy, carefree world is always ready to welcome you again.
Final Thoughts – A Dreamy Escape
After exploring all five sets, what do you think? To me, this is the ideal lifestyle! Though real life doesn’t allow for such leisurely days, simply displaying these sets at home brings a sense of serenity and nostalgia.
The light-up feature is easy to install, with a battery pack conveniently located on the base. And the panda figurines? Even on their own, they make for adorable collectibles!
Fun fact: Pandas were once nicknamed “Iron-Eating Beasts” because they were seen gnawing on metal objects. In reality, they were just scavenging cookware for food scraps! Given the choice, wouldn't they rather feast on fresh bamboo and enjoy a life as peaceful as their brick-built world?
